Fringe
is a conscious, intentional process of uncovering and expressing one’s inner self in physical form. Specifically, in your home and wardrobe.
Simply:
Home + Wardrobe style consulting
Fringe is for...
-
People who are experiencing a block or feeling stuck finding and reflecting their personal style.
-
Folks who have ideas and are aware of their creativity but need some motivation, guidance or a push to move ahead with projects.
-
Someone who feels they’re not sure where to start or is feeling overwhelmed when it comes to style, decorating, and/or shopping.
The problem to solve is...
When we’re feeling good about our personal expression, it provides so much fun and enjoyment. But every once in a while, we can get stuck in that feeling of not having anything to wear even with a full closet, or being disenchanted with our home's decor and desiring all-new-everything.
Not knowing what’s missing in the closet leads to wearing the same 3 fits on repeat, and getting overwhelmed by options for sofas leads to keeping the college papasan for way too long, years past your liking. (For the record, I have nothing against papasans).
Creativity is within all of us, but can be untapped or stifled. When we are able to recognize, honor, and channel that creativity, we more seamlessly feel like our true selves. Confident in our clothes. Comfortable in our homes. More carefree out in the world.
Some therapy approaches believe that the answers to many of our problems are within us, we just have to dig them out.
I’m here to be a facilitator for this dig.
Kristin's approach
I have over a decade of styling experience in film, retail, and 1:1 client projects. In addition, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology stemming from an interest in why we do what we do. That exploration is the motivation behind Fringe.
My style theory in 3 pillars
01 / Personal
STYLE THAT IS TRULY AND UNIQUELY WHO YOU ARE, NOT FOR ANYONE ELSE.
02 / Honest
REAL, TRUE TO SELF - IMPERFECTIONS AND ALL.
03 / Functional
IT SHOULD WORK WITH YOUR SPECIFIC LIFE, REALISTICALLY.
I don’t believe we have to buy more things to fill the voids we are feeling.
I do believe you have the skills to figure this out.
I do believe most of us get tossed around in life and sometimes lose ourselves..
I do believe that what brings us joy sometimes just needs to be pulled out of us. Sometimes through bravery, and other times with someone from the outside looking in.
How we'll work together
The process is built on deep listening, feeling heard, and opening up. There will be a lot of conversing, exploration, and consideration of new ideas. I’m not here to push any one style onto you; I’m not loyal to any one brand. Each client’s experience will yield different end points since I believe everyone is more unique than we realize when tapped into one’s true self.
I see the consult as time to learn and exchange thoughts on style, but also to start problem solving and pulling out connection and interest to form ideas. At some points in the process there may be some encouragement to be your most honest self so I can see what lights you up and makes you feel like yourself.
From the consult, you’ll be able to choose if you want to move forward with a collaborative brainstorm session (or multiple). And if you're feeling set up to take the work from there solo, you can do that - or I can move ahead with creating a Priorities Plan.
When we’re ready to move from ideas to action, I will either form a loose plan of priorities for you to action solo, or I can continue assisting with some item sourcing should you want further assistance.
For example...
First, we meet at your home and have the consult.
This is a 30-45min session talking through your contact form answers, your main pain points or problems to solve; and/or talking about your approach to style in general. We’ll both capitalize on the time with lots of Q&A, but mostly Qs so we can jump into the next step with info and purpose.
After the consult, the next step is a Brainstorm (for home) to take the info from the consult and solve a problem (or a few) collaboratively.
After the Brainstorm, if you’re wanting more concise, written up steps (vs going at it solo out of the Brainstorm), there’s an option for me to create a Priorities Plan and deliver that to you within 1-2 weeks after the Brainstorm session. This is an outline of how to address A, B, C and which changes I think will make the biggest impact, given the specific issues brought up/discussed.
Lastly, I am available to source items we discussed at an hourly rate if you would rather not search for them on your own.
